Book summary

An Account of the Apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Zeitoun, (pictured on the book cover), as seen nightly by crowds of up to 250,000 Christians, Moselms and unbelievers, from 2 April 1968 until 29 May 1971.

The apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Zeitoun, Cairo, from 198-71, must rank among the most astonishing public manifestations of the supernatural ever to have occurred on earth, and yet they have remained almost unnoticed in the West.

Vast crowds of people, up to 250,000 at a time, and all faiths and none, clearly saw the Virgin, prayed and sang hymns to her in unison. Some were even able to photograph the apparitions, and many sick were miraculously healed of incurable diseases.

Personal testimony of the Apparitions:

“ … At about 9.30 pm we saw lighting over the church, much stronger than one could make with a flashlight. I had a feeling something was about to happen. A thin line or edge of light appeared like the light you see when you open the door of a lighted room. Within seconds it formed itself into the shape of the Virgin … I could distinguish only a difference in colour between the skin in the face and the hands and the veil … above the center dome I saw Mary in full body standing before the cross. I cannot describe what I felt.” (The testimony of Mr. Wadie Shumbo, a Protestant employed by Mobil Oil Company.) Francis Johnston vividly recounts these dramatic events.
